DLP Ambassador Sophie Young Published in Niv Magazine

Date: April 6, 2025

David Labkovski Project is proud to share that DLP Ambassador Sophie Young was recently published in Niv Magazine.

In her article, “The Labkovski Project and the Rally for Historical Preservation,” Sophie reflects on an art workshop led by DLP Executive Director Leora Raikin during a family trip to Italy. Through the experience, Sophie explored the role of art in preserving Holocaust history and deepened her understanding of historical preservation through the work of Holocaust survivor and artist David Labkovski.

Her article highlights the importance of engaging with history through personal reflection, storytelling, and visual art. By connecting directly with Labkovski’s narrative artwork, Sophie shares how immersive educational experiences can help younger generations better understand the past and the responsibility of preserving memory for the future.

Sophie’s publication reflects the mission of the David Labkovski Project: empowering students and communities to engage with Holocaust history through art, education, and meaningful dialogue. Her voice continues to demonstrate the impact of DLP’s student leadership and ambassador programs in inspiring thoughtful conversations around remembrance and historical preservation.

Sophie’s experience was also highlighted in a previous article for JewishBoston.
