Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Presents “Documenting History Through Art”

On April 10, 2025, ninth grade students from Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences presented Documenting History through Art, a student-led exhibit created through the David Labkovski Project’s (DLP) multidisciplinary Holocaust education program.

Developed as part of DLP’s in-classroom educational curriculum, the exhibit invited students to engage deeply with the artwork and history of Holocaust survivor and artist David Labkovski. Through project-based learning, students explored themes of memory, resilience, tolerance, and identity while developing their own reflections and creative responses to history.

The exhibit reflected DLP’s educational model, which empowers students to become peer-to-peer educators through art, storytelling, and historical engagement.

Documenting History through Art highlighted the continued partnership between schools and the David Labkovski Project in creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect history, art, and civic responsibility in ways that resonate beyond the classroom.
